A3.
Spatial Exploration & Manipulation

Task

  • A client was chosen and three poetic environments were conceived inspired by their distinct moods.

  • These spaces embody and reflect the client's individual characteristics, traits, behavioral patterns, and habits as interpreted and discovered.

  • The overall concept, approach, theme, and intention demonstrated the application of skills and knowledge acquired from Project 1 and Project 2, including design elements, design principles, ergonomics, scale, proportion, form, and space manipulation.

  • Lights and shadows were employed to convey the emotional ambiance within the spaces

  • The design integrated regular and irregular geometric shapes and forms to explore spatial design, spatial qualities, and atmosphere.

Outcome

Throughout my final assignment titled "Spatial Exploration and Manipulation," I have delved deep into the world of design, particularly focusing on the integration of regular and irregular geometric shapes and forms to explore spatial design, spatial qualities, and atmosphere. This project has been an incredible learning journey that has enriched my understanding of design principles and their practical application.

One of the key takeaways from this assignment is the versatility of geometric shapes in creating diverse spatial experiences. By carefully manipulating these shapes, I have been able to evoke various emotions and moods within the designed environments. I have learned that the selection and arrangement of shapes can influence how people perceive and interact with the space.

Moreover, I have come to appreciate the impact of lighting and shadows in shaping the ambiance of a space.

Throughout the assignment, I challenged myself to think beyond conventional designs and avoid literal representations of objects. This has encouraged me to think more abstractly and imaginatively, pushing the boundaries of my creativity. I realized that by letting go of preconceived notions, I was able to create more unique and captivating spatial experiences that truly reflect the specified emotions.

In conclusion, "Spatial Exploration and Manipulation" has been an eye-opening and rewarding experience. It has provided me with a solid foundation in utilizing geometric shapes, forms, lighting, and shadows to create meaningful and evocative spatial designs. The skills and knowledge gained from this project will undoubtedly shape my future design endeavors and enable me to craft spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also emotionally resonant. I am excited to apply these newfound insights in my future work as a designer, continually seeking innovative ways to shape environments that positively influence the human experience.
