Project Phase 2: Architectural Design Strategy
Task
In Project Phase 2, I developed my architectural design strategy by establishing a clear synthesis and personal stance based on the analysis of Brickfields. I interpreted the idea of a community learning centre within its urban and heritage context, drawing from the issues and inspirations identified in Project Phase 1. Through precedent studies from both international and tropical contexts, I examined urban block conditions, learning centres in heritage areas, and key elements of tropical architecture. This phase involved form-finding explorations using 1:200 models to test different typologies and spatial strategies, informing my approach to character, continuity, public realm quality, movement, adaptability, and diversity within the city.
