Task

We conducted the Preliminary Studies to understand the character, identity, and spatial qualities of the site through a comprehensive Townscape Appraisal. The study examined the site at both macro and micro scales, focusing on its visual, spatial, social, and experiential qualities through observation, research, surveys, and contextual analysis. Key considerations included genius loci, character, identity, sense of place, legibility, and public life. Relevant literature and precedent studies were also reviewed to strengthen our understanding of the site and inform suitable programmes. Through these studies, we identified key opportunities and challenges to develop a responsive architectural strategy that addresses the needs of people, place, and time.
