Project Phase 3: Design Development-Architecture for place-making
Task
In this phase, I developed an architectural narrative for place-making in the city through an integrated design approach. I resolved the architectural strategy across form, activity, and circulation, supported by technical integration. The design focused on shaping positive outdoor spaces, activating building edges through façade design, responding to appropriate building scale and section, allowing adaptability over time, and strengthening the public realm through street connections.
The proposal consists of a 3–5 storey community learning centre within the given block boundary, with a total floor area of approximately 1200–1300 m². The design integrates structural, spatial, environmental, services, and legislative considerations to address user needs, with particular emphasis on tropical design strategies, daylighting, façade articulation, and building envelope performance. The final outcome demonstrates a coherent architectural language and a strong integration of theory, construction, and technical systems, aligned with Building Service.
