Projects

This module has familiarized me with the core design elements, design principles, and principal concepts used in architectural and spatial design, which go beyond the conventional boundaries of disciplines like architecture, interior design, and landscape design. Through a series of explorations and manipulations of design elements, I have developed a deeper comprehension and practical application of design principles. I have also gained the ability to assess and express design ideas and concepts concerning spatial relationships in various contextual conditions.

A1. Design Elements

This project helped acquaint me with the fundamental form elements, progressing in my development from a point to a one-dimensional line, then from a line to a two-dimensional plane, and finally from a plane to a three-dimensional volume. Each element is initially explored from a conceptual perspective and then examined as a visual element within the realm of architectural design vocabulary.

A2. Design Principles

Project 2 has proficiently conveyed the comprehension and practical application of design principles by engaging in form manipulation. The project involves utilizing and establishing order within an architectural composition and spatial arrangement. In this context, "order" encompasses more than just geometric regularity; it pertains to a state where each component of a whole is thoughtfully arranged in relation to other elements and their intended function, resulting in a harmonious and cohesive arrangement.

A3. Spatial Exploration & Manipulation

This assignment allowed me to present conceptual solutions derived from a thorough grasp of the project's character and requirements and demonstrate creativity and originality in the presentation of content, layout, composition, graphics, and model making. I was able to articulate design ideas and spatial concepts critically, encompassing design elements, design principles, ergonomics and anthropometrics, scale, proportion, form, and the manipulation of space.
